Orifice Flow Meters

VUA-Series Low Flow Adapters

VUA-561

The Apex Instruments VUA-Series Low Flow Orifice Adapters all feature a calibrated, critical sapphire orifice with liquid-filled vacuum gauge, brass fittings and inline filter. These are used to adapt our isokinetic source samplers for methods requiring low flow sampling.

Part # Flow Rate
VUA-561 ~1 lpm
VUA-562 ~2 lpm
VUA-565 ~0.5 lpm
VUA-575 ~0.5 lpm
The VUA-560 Series Adapters are used for VOST and Method 6-type sampling. These adapters include 1/2 inch male and 1/4 inch female brass quick connects to attach the isokinetic source sampler to the VOST VU-cords. Three adapters are offered to provide approximately 1/2, 1 and 2 lpm flow rates.
The VUA-575 is used for Method 7C to provide the required flowrate between 400-500cc/min. This adapter includes 1/2 inch male and 1/2 inch female brass quick connects to attach the source sampler to the Method 5 U-cords.

OFM-Series Orifice Flow Meters (OFM-K4-o)

OFM-K4-o

The Apex Instruments OFM-Series Orifice Flow Meters all feature a calibrated, critical orifice with two liquid-filled vacuum gauges and inline filter. All fittings, including the orifice and filter, are made of stainless steel and include 1/4 inch tube fitting end connections. These adapters are used with vacuum pumps to provide constant sample flow rates. Orifice sizes range from 4 to 35 providing flow rates from 0.076 lpm to 6.1 lpm.
Note: To determine critical vacuum, initially adjust the valves to obtain a sample vacuum of about 1/2 of barometric pressure. Observe the sample flow rate meter. Slowly increase the vacuum until a stable flow rate is obtained on the meter. Note and record this as the critical vacuum. Conduct runs at 25-50mm Hg (1-2 inch Hg) above this critical vacuum. Pump and orifice combinations that cannot reach critical vacuum should not be used.
